Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria, seamlessly marries old-world charm with modern innovation. From architectural point of view it has great examples from the Romanesque, to the Gothic, to the Renaissance, to the Baroque and Rococo. With its diverse architecture, mouthwatering cuisine, rich cultural heritage, Munich offers an unforgettable experience that’s both traditional and avant-garde. So we choose to see and experience all of it in person.

Architectural Gems: Where Past Meets Present

Munich’s architectural landscape is a captivating blend of historic elegance and contemporary design. The Nymphenburg Palace, with its opulent Baroque façade and sprawling gardens, embodies Bavaria’s royal heritage. Marienplatz, the city’s central square, boasts the iconic New Town Hall and Glockenspiel, showcasing masterful craftsmanship. You can not miss it since it is literally in the center of everything.

The Allianz Arena, a modern marvel, illuminates the skyline with its dynamic lighting. This architectural medley reflects Munich’s ability to honor its roots while embracing modernity. We suggest seeing it at night. When talking about modern architecture we have to mention the BMW museum. You do not have to be an architect to enjoy visiting it.

Culinary Delights: From Pretzels to Gastronomic Feasts

Bavarian cuisine takes center stage in Munich’s culinary scene. Traditional beer gardens, like the legendary Hofbräuhaus, serve up hearty sausages, crispy pork knuckles, and freshly baked pretzels, alongside locally brewed beer.Natives get great pride in their local white sausage, but to be honest we didn’t really like it that much. Try it out and give us your opinion. Аlthough we are not big beer fans, we really liked their wide selection of beers

The bustling Viktualienmarkt offers a sensory adventure of fresh produce, cheeses, and artisanal treats. For those seeking culinary innovation, Munich’s fine dining establishments present gourmet interpretations of Bavarian classics and global flavors.

Cultural Traditions: From Oktoberfest to Museums

Munich is steeped in cultural traditions that captivate both locals and visitors. The world-renowned Oktoberfest celebrates Bavarian culture with lively beer tents, traditional costumes, and folk music. You need to book your table  in advance …months in advance.

The city’s museum quarter houses an array of treasures, from the Alte Pinakothek’s masterpieces to the interactive exhibits at the Deutsches Museum. Munich’s cultural fabric is woven with a deep appreciation for history, art, and community.

Artistic Dining: Mural’s Creative Fusion

What caught our attention and we simply had to visit is the Mural restaurant, located in the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art no less,if you can believe it. Contrary to what you would expect, the restaurant’s décor is not a canvas of vibrant murals, where visitors find themselves surrounded by a gallery of colors and forms. The interior is simple, black with some interesting colorfull details . The main idea is to not be impressed by the interior, but to direct your interest and attention to the food which we found very refreshing. Each dish is a culinary masterpiece, expertly prepared and beautifully presented, akin to edible art.

Mural’s concept extends to the plate, where flavours and textures are harmoniously blended to create culinary symphonies. Diners embark on a gastronomic journey that engages all the senses. From visually stunning presentations to layers of complex flavours, Mural’s menu reflects Munich’s dedication to embracing creativity in all its forms. Do we have to add that they have a Michelin star?

An Unforgettable Blend: Munich’s Magic

Amidst the architectural splendor, the streets come alive with the sight of slightly tipsy locals adorned in charmingly unique attire, revealing in their own local flair, as they sing, chat, and celebrate with an infectious energy that fills the air, while music wafts from every corner, creating a symphony of joy.

Munich’s charm lies in its ability to harmoniously combine its architectural heritage, delectable cuisine, rich cultural traditions, and artistic endeavours. Munich is a symphony of the old and the new, a canvas painted with tradition and invention, and a city that beckons travellers to immerse themselves in its multifaceted charm.
